I love autumn for the colours; the reds, oranges, yellows and everything in between. The clocks going back last weekend gives us beautiful mornings for a bit longer, light mornings just for a while. As the days shorten and the nights lengthen, sometimes this time of year can be harder. But as in nature, during the darker months there is a call for slowing down, moving inwards, letting go, resting and hibernating. I’m trying to follow natures lead! I’m embracing autumn.
- Decide what you want to let go of. Imagine that each relationship, habit, “thing” that you no longer want in your life, has been released, each thing you let go of creates space for new joy, nourishment and happiness.
- Invite downtime, as nature rests, so can we. Plan quiet time in your week, with no plans or distractions.
- Create cozy. Nourish your spirit; blankets, gentle lighting, a candle, hot drink and a good book or film.
- Pick up those autumn/winter hobbies that give way to the summer days. What gives you joy in this season?
- Get outside; wrap up warm, breathe deeply, embrace the changes in nature. Be playful; kick the leaves, splash in puddles.
- Time for warming soups – this is my intention for the coming months. Making my own soups more often!
