Today is February 1st! If you follow The Wheel of the Year, it’s the festival of Imbolc today. The half way point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. We are still in winter, but certainly starting to notice the stirrings of Spring. Winter is not everyone’s favourite time to of the year, but its a blissful time of rest and hibernation if we take nature as our guide!

There’s lots of social media posts at the moment around ‘celebrating making it through January’ I get it. It’s been particularly miserable with the storms and wet weather. But I’m a big believer in being grateful for what each day brings; it feels uncomfortable to wish January away.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a right good moan at the weather and darkness, but look at the pictures above, they’ve all been taken this month. A gentle reminder that there is some brightness out there!

It also reminds us that actually winter is a time for rest. Look at nature, its resting, hibernating, gathering energy for growth in the spring! We can be learning from nature here! So instead of wishing the winter away embrace it….
